The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) — which replaced the long-standing Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) when the Skills in Demand visa launched — has been indexed for FY25–26.

The numbers

  • FY24–25 threshold: AU$73,150
  • FY25–26 threshold: AU$76,515 (up 4.6%)
  • Indexation method: aligned with Annual Wage Price Index, May release

Which visas use CSIT

  • Subclass 482 Core Skills stream: nominated annual base salary must meet or exceed CSIT
  • Subclass 186 ENS Direct Entry: same threshold applies
  • Subclass 186 ENS Transition stream: salary during the qualifying 482 period must have met the CSIT applicable in that year

Salary structure clarification

The CSIT figure refers to the guaranteed annual earnings (AGE) — base salary plus contractual cash allowances (e.g. car allowance, on-call allowance, fixed bonuses). It excludes:

  • Superannuation (paid on top, not counted in AGE)
  • Discretionary bonuses
  • Equity / share-based compensation
  • Reimbursable expense allowances

Practical impact

Sponsors with employees previously nominated at $73,150 do not need to mid-cycle adjust salaries for current 482 visas. The new threshold applies to:

  • New nominations lodged from the indexation date
  • Renewals and new nomination assessments
  • 186 ENS lodgements assessed against the year-of-nomination threshold
